    Default Castle Mill - oldham - May 2010

    Castle Mill Oldham

    Not a lot of information found on this one unfortunately only this small bit.

    Demolition work is about to start at the Borough Triangle development site in Hathershaw.

    The area is a key project in the Fitton Hill and Hathershaw New Deal for Communities project area, between Ashton Road, Copster Hill Road and Schofield Street.

    Developer Countryside Properties has drawn up plans to provide up to 300 contemporary homes, new shops and offices, with landscaped areas and open space.

    The proposals have been commissioned by New Deal for Communities, Housing Market Renewal and Oldham Council.

    Now Oldham Council, which owns the land including the former Richard Court garage, Castle Mill, Falcon House and Borough Mill, which are all empty and in the first development phase, has commissioned the demolitions.

    Explored with {WIMR}

    Boxes and boxes of leather belts.

    The good old safe.

    Thank you.

    Very good, and sad to see it is going It must have been amazing to have walked through that area of Oldham a century ago, as there were so many mills.

    Nice shots there mate, The last time I saw that place, I was delivering New Rovers to Richard Cort. The Entrance to the back of the mill (where we had to drop the cars off) was a Nightmare to get in and out of in an artic with an 8 ft overhang at the front, Feckin cars parked everywhere in the side road. Was nice to see it again tho.

    I would have thought this building would make some trendy flats rather than demolishing it. Looks like they used to supply Matalan.

    We got into a Rover dealership at the back of this mill. But not a lot to see just a new cherry picker that had been left in the showroom still a good mooch.
