Arrow British Extraction - Hull - March '09

I've not managed to find out a single thing about this landmark of the Hull skyline, perhaps others can help me out. Visited today with Thin Ice (nice to meet you ), Magoo˛ and Scary Mary.

This one was hard work for various reasons and has taken a couple of attempts but we finally got in today and and were totally underwhelmed. What a let down The old warehouses next door were much more fun and photogenic so I'll put a report up for them separately

From the outside this really is a dramatic looking building

Inside the taller building are dozens of hoppers? I think that's what they're called anyway. There's not much else in there and they seem to go right to the top of the building. There's a ladder that goes to the top but I didn't climb all the way as it looked like an awful lot of effort to see a landing at the top... glad I didn't carry on as it happened, as I would have been stuck up there when we had 'visitors'

Inside the second smaller building under years' worth of pigeon shit was some machinery but nothing to get excited about.

The view from the second floor

...and the fire escape of doom!

A lovely light on these pictures Muse, and some nice machinery. The fire escape is terrifying.

I cheated, the externals with the lovely light were taken last week much later in the day

The fire escape looks like a deathtrap and it was pretty windy by the river.

Well it was great meeting you lot, the incident involving the visitors that was classic though.

All I know about the place is that it did stuff with Rapeseed Oils and as been derelict since something like the 1970s. Its grade 2 listed and like most derelict sites had a stint where a dodgy motor/ car group used or dumped on the site.

Still looks not too bad Muse-or is that just your pics making it look better? What's this 'visitors' bit? Something to do with Lost?

Good pics there. I agree that the externals make the place look amazing. Really like the picture of the broken window on the second floor
