    Default Dunkirk Bunkers

    Hi again,
Haven't posted in a while but have a small report.

I recently visited German for a trip to the Nurburg ring and on the way back decided to stop off at the Dunkirk beach.

During WWII in the Battle of France. Many British soldiers were cut off from the rest of the French army due to being surrounded by the Germans and consequently retreated to the Dunkirk beach around the port area.

Here are a few snaps I took on my brief look. Sorry about the quality but I only had my phone on me as I wasn't planning any exploring.

They just lay on the beach open to anyone to walk around, some have been welded up so entry is impossible. Others which aren't easily accessible have been left. But with my Urbex ninja ways managed to climb in.

This is when I got rather disappointed. Just as we ran out of time to catch the ferry, I took a look over the hill to find a field full of buildings. Didn't have a chance to take anymore pictures

They were not built during the Dunkirk evacuation that was early on in WWII! These are part of Hitler's Atlantic Wall built as anti-invasion defences 1942-45. Never the less always worthy of an explore, nothing like the Atlantic Wall for bunkers!
I bet you were gutted when you found the big lot over the hill

Thanks guys, spot on Tankman, they would be facing the wrong way otherwise which could of proved to be a problem haha. But just saying they were located there.

I have a few more shots from over the hill and there was actually quick a few building over there not just that one. Wish I had a chance to check them out.

Those are always good to see. They exhibit the battle scars on them too.

The best preserved section is at Ostend, part of it has been restored as a museum (complete with guns) but it was closed when i went there last
