There's also RAF Old Buckenham a few miles down the road, not much left of that now but the perimeter and a small runway used by crop dusters and stuff, I have some pics which I will dig out but there's not much to see.
I've also asked my dad to dig out pictures of Thorpe Abbots we have as photos taken during the 1970s and 80s.

The runway was much longer, intact and the permimeter road was complete, we used to use it as a race track when I first passed my test back in the 80s. Round the bend on the main runoff was an old hanger which was still used for a small light aircraft. This is now gone.
There were many more buildings in the woods near the tower and back along the runway towards the Billingford Road. Further down that road near Upper Billingford were many old service buildings and some toilet blocks etc. I also remember all the old MOD road signs and fencing which has all now been removed. I will bug my dad until he sends me the photos and I will scan and post them.
