This used to be a playground of sorts for me in my early days of U.E - living a 5 minute drive from it at the time was a big contributor!

This place is amazing in the snow, gives a totally different perspective.... and its damned cold!!!


this place has deteriorated pretty badly in the years since i was last here, those gorgeous stairs have been attacked and so have a number of other rooms. its an absolute disgrace. So much so a friend i decided it was time to get the media involved... a move that wasn't taken well by a lot of our associates but we felt it needed to be done!

The legendary clock tower - we took a trip into the mechanics of this and were disappointed to find that the original clockwork was no more and had been replaced with an electric motor

The water tower - we didnt venture into here becuase of the HUGE amount of bird crap everywhere. Just didnt look worth it!


A load of cutlery that we found, sadly no longer here. Victim of the squatters we discovered i imagine

This has since been pulled down and strewn across the landing. Pity

There was a whole drawer of these, and they were definitely original from the dating.

This is about the only time ive intervened in the future of artefacts that have been discovered on an explore. There was no way we were going to allow them to get lost or destroyed

Wow great report, I am from Chelmsford and several of my friends went to work here when we left school in 1981' especially poignant.
