U-Bahn and Trams - Berlin - Oct 2011

I was well up for venturing right into the U-Bahn (underground rail system), but my non exploring friend wasn't really feeling it. I had to jump onto the tracks though while I was there and have quick run down....

Every now and then you can go on an organised open top tour on the U Bahn,they do supply you with a hard hat.When they were building extension lines on Deusche Bahn next to excisting S Bahn lines there was a bad fire on part of the U Bahn that knocked it out of action for months.All the work was to cope with the crowds for the 2006 Football World Cup.
