Ushaw College Junior Seminary - Durham - November 2010

A very popular explore in Durham, has probably been featured a gazillion times on here but heres some shots i did

"The Junior Seminary of Ushaw College for Catholic Priests, is a grade II listed building, built as an addition to the original Seminary that was built in 1808. Built to a design by Edward Welby Pugin in 1857-59. It includes the Chapel of St Aloysius a gothic structure, 22 feet wide and 64 feet long. The altar is made from Caen stone and marble and the panels depict the life of St Aloysius.

I went initially to take Pike and show him around but decided id take a few pics while i was there as id not found the Chapel or the Basement when i last went.
Wish id got more of the Chapel but had a bit of a brown trouser moment whilst in there, voices from directly outside spark the fear we'd been rumbled. Had to stand very still for what felt like for ever due to so much noisy crap on the floor. After leaving the Chapel a rather loud bang made me feel like i had rid my bowels of a small elephant but must have just been the wind (maybe id watched a few too many horror films in the previous week, im not usually that jumpy.... honest! also the worry of Chavs being around and my stupidity in bringing my "good" camera before id insured it didn't help)

so yeah, here's a few i took from the chapel, a few from the basement n a coupe of other bits.
