Alir147 mentioned a former asylum in Aberdeen. Nobody had explored it before. Let's go!

I live some way from Aberdeen, which was a big ask for my crumbly old SAAB bingeing on unleaded at £1.30/litre.
An unexplored asylum though, it had to be done.

Me and Melvin met up with Gorecki and Ali in the retail car park opposite and debated about what to do. Blundering in is my favourite elite stealth urbex manoeuvre, so that's what we did.
Sauntering past CCTV cameras and into an isolated but in-use courtyard we found a way in.

Oh dear, it's looking pretty bland. Not knowing what to expect, be it alarms, security guards, patients we were very cautious.

Wood panelling, that's more like it. The hospital had its own shop which sold goods made by the patients.

All at sea on this floor

Oh yes.

The main hall is a bit truncated, because one side is cut off by this generous corridor

Heading deeper into the hospital.

We found 'art therapy' and it's cracker!

By now we were mostly chilled out and enjoying all this 'newness'. I love exploring new places.

We found our way into more boring bits

I wish I'd taken more photos or revisited, as it was stripped out not that long after. The site may become the new Police HQ for Aberdeen...

It looked a prime asylum before stripping, now it's empty it's lost its soul. Were there a lot of beds and furniture littering the wards back then?
