saturday the 26th was a really nice and hot day so i thought to myself 'why not spend it underground'
i've known about these tunnels for ages and the rumours of people entering them then returning to the surface some 400 meters away near the local church. so around 11am made some calls to friends and got some gear together and was off...

entrance to the two tunnels.

standing at the doorway, picture taken from about 15 meters in.

it was interesting to see that tarmac had leeched through from a newly resurfaced car park a few feet above.

the two tunnels met and a junction with a concrete block doubled as a sitting area. we felt were close to the exit as the smell of chips was in the air (the chip shop is next to the church) but the tunnel was too small to go on in what we were wearing.

to our right was a new looking tunnel made of concrete we didnt go down but definatly an explore for the future.

above us was a drain, the sound of cars passing over sugested we were under the road.

on exiting the tunnels we decied to look for the drain which was in the middle of a roundabout so 250 meters away from the entrance, meaning we still had a fair way to go :P
