Craigtoun Hospital, Nr St Andrews, fife - Feb 2008

After a 6am start in the snow and ice from Aberdeen, 1 flash of a speed camera and 4 times round the same roundabout (at the same time :p ) we made it down to this place! It's a fantastic hospital, and despite being stripped of almost all it's original equipment and "stuff", the "interior design" makes up for it!

Originally, it was the mansion house of some lucky bugger and at the time was known as "Mount mellvile". It then must of got acuqired by the NHS and made in to a hospital. By the time it shut its doors 15 years a go, it was a maternity hospital!

Update from today. After the fencing being up and security onsite while renovations were happening, it looks as though perhaps things are on hold. Its very boarded with new lights and security cams around, so i'm assuming the hotel/spa conversion is on hiatus just now.

Had they done much work to the building? I popped up for a look a few months ago and it looked quite busy.

I think its all been external, it looks a lot tidier, and now the crappy extension at the side has gone it looks nice there too. The whole other side was scaffolded before. It's like they've done the pointing and made a big effort with most of the windows, and when the money's available they'll do the inside.

Any update on this place? I had a look a few weeks ago, lots of lights, alarms and beeping things so couldn't get inside.
I wonder if there is any progress on its development?

Not much I think. Certainly nothing doing while money is tight.
